This Chardonnay is fresh and vibrant rather than heavily buttery or oaky, yet it has an unmistakable roundness and long finish that makes it a perfect pairing for dishes with cream or hollandaise sauce. Our winemaker achieved the signature texture and richness from neutral barrel aging along with a partial malolactic fermentation and whole-cluster pressing.
The wine immediately opens with aromas of lemon oil, apple, pear, and hints of baking spice and toasted coconut. On the palate, you are met with crips flavors of lemon curd, baked pear, and fresh apple, with notes of clove and a light, toasty vanilla finish—all rounded by a lively acidity coupled with a creamy mouthfeel. This wine can be served chilled on a summer day or enjoyed at cellar temperature on a cool winter night by a warm fire.
Comprised of hand-harvested premium Chardonnay grapes sourced from Sangiacomo's renown Apple Hill vineyard, located within the Home Ranch in the Los Carneros area, the fruit quality reflects the impressive heritage of sustainability and stewardship practiced by the multi-generational Sangiacomo family. With the vineyard only two miles from the Sol Rei Wine tasting room in Sonoma, this Chardonnay captures the essence of Sonoma - understated elegance, authentic, and approachable.
This wine, as with all our wines, has been third-party lab tested to be low in histamines, low in sulfites, and free of trace pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides.
