Marco Cappelli

As a well-known winemaker with extensive experience in Napa, the California Sierra Foothills, and Europe for over 20 years, Marco’s skillful hands and palette have launched many award-winning wines. Along with his winemaking consulting, Marco has a new tasting room (Cappelli Wine) which uses innovative sustainable practices such as wines on tap for take out in reusable bottles or enjoyed by the glass at his lovely wine bar on Main Street in Placerville, CA.

Tapping into decades of experience of premium winemaking for brands in California and Texas, our award-winning father (Greg) and son (Kyle) winemaking team achieves the almost impossible with our signature style - low tannin red wine with fantastic medium body that is also low in histamines and sulfites. Already winning accolades for the first vintage in our portfolio, the 2023 Sol Rei Syrah received a Double Gold in the 2025 San Francisco Wine Competion and the 2023 Sol Rei Private Reserve received “Editor’s Choice” by Wine Enthusiast in the October 2025 Buyers’ Guide.

New for the release of our 2025 vintages, Kyle has created two beautiful white wines - 2025 Sol Rei Sauvignon Blanc and 2025 Chardonnay that will be bottled and available later this year. Both of these varietals are sourced from a premium sustainably farmed vineyard in the Sonoma Carneros wine region.
